The lighting on the bottom of the chin and under the cigar throws the effect off. Perhaps you can darken it with "selective color" making a selection and then darkening/tinting the whites.

I see what you mean, Mossy. While I haven't had much success with "selections" inside an image - I did grab a soft BURN brush and darkened alternately the "shadows" and the "midtones" at about 7% each. Definite improvement in the overall blend.
