First off all i cropped the image to get a better composition of the photo.
Then i started creating some nice 3d spheres and placed them in the same position as the nuts! I put on reflection for a more intense outcome.
As you can see the reflections are realistic!
I brought back parts of the source image on the reflecting spheres so it looks like an armoured coconut.

I hope you guys like it and let me know what you think about it!

As you can see i edited the edges and removed the coconut structure and changed a few other settings!

It took me some time so far. and i wondered what you guys would think of it first. there is still time left to change the entry and improve it. And your right about the thickness thats what i came up with after i finished this one. but after working on something for hours its good to take a step away from it and look back at it again later on.
