Kinloss Abbey near Forres was founded in 1150 by King David I and colonised by Cistercian monks. The abbey went on to become one of the largest and wealthiest religious houses in Scotland. The Protestant Reformation of 1560 brought about the abbey's demise. (5 years and 3210 days ago)
