That is indeed one stunning piece of instrumentation there. Wouldn't it be cool if a heavy metal band rolled one of these monsters out on stage and started whaling away on it ?? Good pic, author.

I am sorry........this is not an instrument. It is the pipes of and organ. Something that emits a sound produced by an instrument. It is similar to an electric guitar analogy. A GUITAR - is an instrument. Electrified or not. Acoustically it must be PLAYED and the sound resonates from the hollow body of the wood. Electrically - it also MUST BE PLAYED in order to emit a sound - you PLAY an instrument - or use it to produce musical tones - such as the human voice. It is considered an instrument because it must be played ( = muscles exercised ) to produce harmonic tones.

But you can not put a picture of a microphone up and call THAT an instrument. It is used to AMPLIFY the vocal chords - or INSTRUMENT - to produce audible signals. Nor could you put a picture of a PA speaker up and call THAT an instrument. That is used to reproduce the tones electrically signaled by the MICROPHONE that is amplifying the vocal chords or INSTRUMENT.
Similarly, you could not put a picture of a MARSHALL STACK (electric guitar AMPLIFIER - a speaker in which an electric guitar must be plugged in to in order to produce musical tones that are audible) - you can NOT put a picture of an amp up and call THAT an instrument.


Likewise, this photo should have been removed due to the fact it is NOT an instrument - but merely metal tubes that are used to amplify the tones produced by a musical instrument - in this case an ORGAN - which is NOT pictured and probably normally placed below the wooden enclosure housing the PIPES or AMPLIFIERS.

I only chimed in because the all knowing mods removed an entry of a SINGER from a MUSICIAN contest claiming a singer ISN'T a MUSICIAN. Singers ARE musicians - the mods are idiots.
And they removed a CONFECTIONERY HOUSE from a CONFECTIONERY contest claiming it wasn't "their opinion" of a confection, more like a small doughnut (which is NOT a confectionery but considered a BAKED GOOD - even though it is fried.) You buy doughnuts and PASTRIES at a BAKERY - and candy and other confections at a CANDY SHOP - or CONFECTIONERY STORE.

Again.......idiots.
