why aren't family reunions free? I feel sorry for people who do not consider family reunions one of the best things in life.
Many families have to travel long distances to get together for family reunions. That's what I think everybody means. It can be expensive to travel.
Not to mention feeding a crowd like that.
you guys are looking way too much into it I think. If you start looking at it like that, then nothing is free. Walks on the beaches aren't free because you have to drive there and picnics aren't free because you have to buy the food to have it, walking in the park isn't free because you pay taxes....
Most of the people didn't drive far and almost everyone brought a dish to pass so it would have cost about the same as cooking in your own household SO really it was the same as everyday costs.
I guess it would have been much better if the contest was named the best things in life, but that would be complicated too, I think what they are looking for is simple pleasures. Personally I love family re-unions.
I kind of agree with the author here. If we analyze each shot to that level, almost nothing is free. Walking on the beach that's close to your house? Are you naked, or did you pay for those clothes and shoes? I think the "free" thing in the family reunion is the company, not the food etc.
