Why

It was late evening in a rainy season. The darkness was all the side but very far distance a pond was shining (actually sparkling) due to the sun rays was falling on it. I had tried to capture that in snap but I could get this much only, but in real it was really really shining looks like golden water. I was so happy to see this kind of beauty of nature but little bit sad that I could not get it in snap as it was...

A beautiful spot, but the image is a little flat, try duplicating the layer and set the new layer to multiply.

I've never done that, so I wouldn't know how to go about it. I use Picasa too.

In that case I would just try Autocontrast in Picasa.

Author, I use Picasa as well. Use the shadow adjustment, its the same as contrast.
