Hurt Lyrics - Photography Contest [15 entries]
Contest goal:
We've had several 'Quote Theme' contests in the past. This might be a unique take for a photography theme - instead of a famous quote, we'll use famous lyrics from a song.
For this contest, you are to take the first two lines from Nine Inch Nails' song "Hurt", and take a photograph representing your interpretation of it. "I hurt myself today. To see if I still feel. I focus on the pain. The only thing that's real"
If you are not familiar with this song you can go to the Hurt Music Video and maybe listening to it will inspire you.
Take these lyrics and interpret them through photography. Pain, suffering, depression and self-misery should be the focus of the theme. If the image does not depict any kind of sadness or sorrow by obvious interpretation, please give a description. You must have at least 1 person in the photo showing facial expression.

locksmagic: mperri I was just thinking the same thing, I think it is because of the depiction of drug use and that it may have been offensive to some. At least thats the only thing I could come up with. To bad though it was a creative shot ( 5 years and 3289 days ago )
mperri: Locks... considering it was showing drugs as a source of anguish and suffering, I thought it was hitting a pretty important spot... I am all for trying to avoid pictures that portray drugs as cool... but I am equally fond of pictures that show drugs as BAD... too bad, though, I loved that shot! ( 5 years and 3289 days ago )

A lot of people have felt the pressure of the seemingly endless stream of bills. The man in this photo is feeling that pressure, the wedding ring represents the fact that not only is he responsible for himself but also the one he promised to support, the empty cans represent how he makes his misery worse by trying to drown out reality. was wondering when you'd show up in this contest
Really nice. I would like to see just a tiny bit more highlights on the hair to give the head a little shape. Cool shot, though. GL
make up doesnt really fall properly, should really flow down towards her nose.The angle of her face and the flow of the tear just dont seem to match unless she was crying then turned her face after the tears dried. Gravity would pull it more downward.
Mekun, I would suggest this is what happened "unless she was crying then turned her face after the tears dried", seeing that she's just kind of staring off into space now. She doesn't have the "crying" look on her face in this picture.
I like it and a good take on one's own form of pain to focus on. GL!!!
