Made a new carpet for the dogs to sit on. Selected the area, chose two brown colors from the source, rendered clouds, added grain and sandstone texture.
Put a new mouth on the white dog and enlarged the eyes using liquify.

Flood fill a new layer with a cream color picked from source. Add sandstone texture and a mask to that layer. Paint on mask with watercolor brushes to show the dogs underneath. Add a few new layers and paint with watercolor splatters in different colors.
