A Work in Progress: Accused

Step 1 Cut out Judges robe and accused suit. Used layer mask to erase portions behind bench. Cut out lizard head. Resized and flipped horizonally so they are facing each other.
Removed Judges spikes.

Step 2 Placed subjects in scene. Added drop shadow to subjects and microphone.

Step 3 Cut chair onto a new layer and used variations to color it a blue green color and lightened it so it would contrast with the black judge robe better.

Step 4 Duplicated Background and applied a 0.8 gausian blur to entire background copy. Placed it below original background layer. Then put a mask on original background layer and covered areas of artifacts with black on the mask. This was necessary as my background picture was small and low resolution and I had to smooth out areas with artifacts and choppyness.

Step 5 Individually adjusted judge and accused heads with levels. Adjusted entire picture with levels. Tweaked minor flaws, Added Text. Used "Save for Web and Devices" to resize the pic to 800 px wide. (was 429 pixels wide ughh!).

This was quite a challange working with such a low res pic. I think I will use the technique in step 4 again if I have another low res pic to work with.
