Animation in Photoshop is still quite unintuitive but at least it's a good opportunity to learn about grouping layers ;)
To begin with I tried to imagine how many different 'poses' I would need and decide the most efficient way to animate, so created the different components of the characters in different groups.
I still think it was a good idea, but in practice it didn't really work out how I'd planned.
