I used adjustment layers (hue/saturation, levels) to assimilate the colors.

I used "selective color correction" to change the color of the totem. I made layer filled with 50% gray in the layer mode "screen" and used dogde and burn to change the lighting of the totem.
I used "gaussian blur" for the background and "levels" to lighten the background a bit.
