First i cut the elements from the source image:

i assembled them, and modified them; with liquify i made the ballon
step 3 of 5
and it's time for colour!! i used brushes(only default from photoshop) with different opacity and also, some blending modes te create the ilusion of coloured wood

so... i updated the image, by modifying the levels in the coluds background and colouring them a little bit with regular photoshop brushes, deleted the ugly black line, and the weird rope ;)
