A Work in Progress: Fresh Water

step 1 of 11

In Bryce I used the torus.obj in the create section. I manipulated the torus until it was oblong to look like a chain.

Creation of Fresh Water: Step 1

step 2 of 11

I duplicated the first link and manipulated it to look like a second link and grouped the two obj.

Creation of Fresh Water: Step 2

step 3 of 11

I duplicated the first group and manipulated it to look like the 3rd and 4th links then grouped both groups to make a four link chain.

Creation of Fresh Water: Step 3

step 4 of 11

I repeated steps 3 & 4 until I had a 16 link chain.

Creation of Fresh Water: Step 4

step 5 of 11

After the chain was complete, I reduced the size and manipulated it so that it began in the ocean and terminated in a Symmetrical lattice object that I'd added from the create section.

Creation of Fresh Water: Step 5

step 6 of 11

I then added the Caribbean resort water material to the chain and the ocean plane.

And added the Techno City12 material to the Symmetrical Lattice Object

Creation of Fresh Water: Step 6

step 7 of 11

I did not like the sky so experimented until I found the Entities Dreaming sky.

Creation of Fresh Water: Step 7

step 8 of 11

I then decided to add a waterfall to the Island at the end of the chain. I took the Symmetrical Lattice into the materials editor and and cut a trench into the island.

Creation of Fresh Water: Step 8

step 9 of 11

To make the waterfall, I chose a capsul 70% that I sized then put into the "trench" in the island. I then added a water fall texture from edit/materials/ pro-materials.

Creation of Fresh Water: Step 9

step 10 of 11

At this point I closed Bryce and moved into PSP using the chains8.bmp from Bryce. I needed to cover the top of the capsule so that the water fall looked more natural coming off of the island.

Creation of Fresh Water: Step 10

step 11 of 11

I then added a small cloud at the base of the waterfall moving transparency to 70% to create a mist. I then applied a Gaussian blur 1% to smooth the image a bit, and renamed the Image to "Fresh Water".
