A Work in Progress: Tangerine Twilight

Layer of dark color for base layer. Took a sample of this color onto a second layer and added some noise and a little ripple distortion for the water. The clouds are painted with CS5 chalk brush some smudging and slight blur added.
Another layer has the stars painted on it.

step 2 of 4

Lighting effects created with several layers of gradients and colors with differing opacities. These layer blend modes were set at overlay and multiply.

step 3 of 4

Masked out the Monument Valley picture. Made clones of it. Set the blend of one layer to multiply and lowered its opacity. Another I flipped horizontally for the foreground.

The planet is a hard round brush. A layer of shadowing was accomplished with dark color and round brush with blur added. The "wet sponge" and "wet oil" brush was used on yet another layer with bevel/emboss FX added to make some surface relief.
