A Work in Progress: Water Town

Modeling in Max consists of cylinders, Geospheres (some with lattice modifier) and planes. The greeble plugin modifier was used on some of the planes to create the city geometry. Mental ray renderer used along with MR sun, and materials for the water and other effects.

The rendered model. This was processed in CS5 to add textures to the buildings and other additions to scene. Color was enhanced via hue/sat, levels, curves and selective color adjustsments.

The moon and ships were masked with layer masking. Levels and color matching done. Some brush work to make the foam trail in water behind ship.

To texture the buildings I used brush work combined with FX such as drop shadow and bevel emboss. One of the buildings (lower left) has a pattern overlay FX and another ( low center) has a sample from source listed below free transformed for perspective applied to it.
