Here is the image I used for the hand and soil chunk. This is my own photo.

I then blurred the hand photo, all except for the soil chunk. The reason why it looks so light is because the layer opacity was set very low and when saved as a jpeg it fills the transparent parts with white.

Next I used the source image to create a background for behind the hand.

and lastly I added the girls and used the source image to add some flowers in the grass.
