This is a great picture. I'd love to use it for a Photoshop contest I'm participating in. Of course, I'll post the result on dA. In addition I would have to post it on pxleyes.com. Would that be okay with you? I will give you the proper credits there as well. Thanks in advance for your reply.

I separated the model from the background using the pen tool and some channel based layer masking.

I smoothed the skin using surface blur. Also I removed the facial features (only to put them back later) using cloning and healing.

With the Puppet Warp tool, I changed the proportions and pose of the model's body to mimic that of a doll.

I added articulated joints, shading and dimension by dodging and burning on a 50% gray layer set to overlay.

Added warped and scaled facial featured back to the face. In addition I painted very exaggerated eyelashes etc.

Added specular highlights on the plastic 'skin' using a custom brush.

Changed the hair color to a fiery red. Adjusted the hair line and painted in additional hair using custom brushes.

Created the front of the packaging design from scratch in AI. (I could have done this in PS, but in AI it's much quicker and resolution independent, I hope that's okay.)

Enlarged the canvas to be able to fit the packaging around Amandine.

Added a red curtain (Moulin Rouge style) as a backdrop inside the box. Also, I fine tuned the overall color of the 'doll'.

Added my packaging design and applied a color halftone effect to it to simulate offset printed artwork. In addition I added a slight perspective distortion to the box. Finally I added a subtle yet significant reflection to simulate the plastic window in the box.

Added drop shadows, reflection and radiosity to the scene, to place the box in the environment.

Added final overall color adjustments and some grain to tie it all together and give it a somewhat vintage look.
