HAT

(1) in the side view create a Curve in the shape u wish to make the Hat
(2) take a Nurbs Circle n play with the vertices to get the desired shape for the base of hat
(3) now duplicate it along the shape of the laid out curve
and adjust the circle untill u r satisfied with the shape
(4) now select each Nurbs Circle in order and go to SURFACES>LOFT
(5) bingo!! u have ur hat
(6) now that u have got a Nurbs object (the hat) u can convert it into Polygon (not necessary though but if u want to then) select the Nurbs object go to MODIFY> CONVERT>nurbs to polygon
(7) a window pop ups
do check on the options i have highlighted in the box as in the following figure

(8) after u have converted
the the nurbs object into polygon
select the polygon object go to
EDIT>DELETE BY TYPE> HISTORY
so that any changes made in the parent Nurbs object doesnt affect the newly formed Polygonal object
