step 1 of 18

This is my original design

Creation of Tranquility: Step 1

step 2 of 18

I created a path around the edge to bring into illustrator.

Creation of Tranquility: Step 2

step 3 of 18

After saving my path as illustrator v8 I brought into Cinema 4D and placed in a Lathe Nurbs.

Creation of Tranquility: Step 3

step 4 of 18

I used the scale tool to manipulate my bottle then made selections to extrude.

Creation of Tranquility: Step 4

step 5 of 18

I used a Twist Deformer to further manipulate the bottle

Creation of Tranquility: Step 5

step 6 of 18

Here I have created a stopper for my bottle. It is a sphere with a selection extruded and tapered.

Creation of Tranquility: Step 6

step 7 of 18

This was the name that I decided to go with. The Typeface is Bickham Script Pro.

Creation of Tranquility: Step 7

step 8 of 18

I wanted my box to have a sense of realism so I added some more text to indicate the volume and type of scent.

Creation of Tranquility: Step 8

step 9 of 18

Because my bottle has swirls, I wanted to continue the theme onto the box.

Creation of Tranquility: Step 9

step 10 of 18

My box is just a cube with rounded edges. Here you can see the materials added.

Creation of Tranquility: Step 10

step 11 of 18

I wanted a background that looked like cascading silky material after a lot of messing about with clothilde tags I thought I would give the Loft Nurbs a try. Here are 3 splines.

Creation of Tranquility: Step 11

step 12 of 18

My 3 splines placed in a Loft Nurbs.

Creation of Tranquility: Step 12

step 13 of 18

This was placed in a HyperNurbs object and I tweaked a few faces.

Creation of Tranquility: Step 13

step 14 of 18

I got my bottle and packaging into position and placed a camera.

Creation of Tranquility: Step 14

step 15 of 18

I added some small Planes with a luminance material around the bottle. I also added 2 spotlights and 1 omni. I also used compositing tags to specify which items to light.

Creation of Tranquility: Step 15

step 16 of 18

I discovered this fantastic tutorial by Alexander Alexandrov on creating your own hdri maps. So I thought I would give it a go.
The tutorial is well worth a look

Creation of Tranquility: Step 16
sources used for this step:

step 17 of 18

I made a new material, coloured it with my hdri map and added to a sky object in my scene.
I rendered with AO and GI. I tried to keep my settings low and my render time was just over 1 hour 10 mins.
I took my image into Photoshop to manipulate my images colour and give some contrast. I added my logo to the bottle in Photoshop also.

Creation of Tranquility: Step 17
