Layers and smudge. I don't know that I needed every layer, but I was happy with the result, so I left them. To get the dappled light effect, I used a natural brush (stipple), increased the size and reduced the flow.

I used a huge, soft brush to add the light and dark on the wall and table, except for the plate shadow, which was burned.
step 5 of 5
More layers and smudge. I finished the image by adding lines on the table top using a natural brush and the pen tool.
