This is the earth model, its a full 3D model I created by following the tutorial. Look at source.

Okay so not I had to make up the scene, I used a sky object with the settings for night-time so it creates the stars on its own.

Then I added a wide spot light with lightly orange tinge to replicate the sun. This shot shows that.

This is a meteor close up, again the tutorial is linked. The tailes are animated which is quite cool for future work.
