step 1 of 6

Create a new photoshop document 512x512 pixels. Fill background layer with black then make a shape for the face on a new layer.

Create a new layer "features", draw shapes for eyes and mouth. Bucket fill the shapes with black, add gaussian blur then layer effects. Select a gray color for the glow.

on "face" layer make a selection by clicking inside the shape with the Magic wand tool. Then use a radial gradient to fill inside the shape. Make sure the white is in the middle of the shape. Save file in .Jpeg format.

Place "wood" image over 'face' layer, free transform, makes a selection and cut out what ever isn't going to be in the mask in the mask. Then touch up wood layer with dodge/burn tool and save file as .Giff format. Document could also be saved as .psd just make sure the background layer is turned off to create the transparency.

Create either a symmetrical lattice or terrain. Select 'edit terrain' from the Edit menu or click on the "E" button on the side of the object. In the terrain lab, click the small grid on the bottom of the tool pallet to the left of the 'terrain canvas' window. Select "512- ultra fine". then flatten the terrain and apply .jpeg image of the mask.

Go to materials lab and apply .Giff image as a material.
