A Work in Progress: cards

I started by drawing the card outline using the pen tool

I then drew the spade using the pen tool

I then started on the number, I used the marquee tool to create an outline shape.

I then used the eraser tool to turn the blob in to a 6 shape

I then used a smaller eraser tool to make the 6 look broken up.

I then drew a heart using the pen tool.

I put the spades and hearts in place on the cards

I then drew the clubs using the pen tool

I then placed the clubs on the card.
I then used the pen tool and eraser tool and changed the colour to make the cards look old.

in a new layer i then used the brush to make some black spots, then changed the opacity to 50% to make the cards look dirty.

to make the 8 ball first i opened a new layer I then used the marquee tool to make a circe and filled it with black.

then in a new layer I put some white to make in to highlight to make it look 3d

I used the blur tool to make the highlight look right, I then added the white of the ball.

to make the 8 on the ball I used the circular marquee too and filled it with black.

I erased the middle of the circles of the 8 I then started on the star, I used the marquee tool to draw a star then filled it with black.

I then added the red using the marquee tool.

I then made the flames, to do this I first made the shape using the pen tool selected the inside shape and filled it with red, I went select>modify>contract by 15px and filled that with orange, the again and filled it with yellow then again and filled it with white. I then used the blur tool to make the flame look realistic.

To make the dice I first made three sides slightly differednt gray's

on a new layer I used the brush to create highlights.

then in another new layer I used the brush to put black on for the shadow.

I then lowered the opacity of the two layers to make them blend in. I then merged the two layers

finally I added the spots and used hue/satuation to make it pink.

I used the same proses to make the purple dice.
I then opened a new layer and moved it to the bottom and filled it with a brown colour. I opened a few more layers and using the brush tool I put blobs over the page on different layers.

finally I lowered the opacity on the layers to make the background look dirty.
