My first step was to crop the image from a busy, large scene, to a more concentrated image.

For step 2 I used the sharpening tool in Lightroom 3 to make the textures stand out more. A subtle, but effective technique.

In step 3 I used the lens profile tool in Lightroom 3 to make the image look more like what I actually saw in real life.
