A Work in Progress: Ice Princess

The source backgroun photo is set to 120 resolution, then transformed with filters:
Brushstroke/crosshatch;
Distort/ripple;
Brushstroke/crosshatch,
again; Pixelate/facet;Artistic/plastic wrap;

Here the girl's source photo is added and desaturated.

Filters as on background are added to the face except for plastic wrap (crosshatch, ripple, an facet).

Background layer is duplicated and new layer is placed over the face layer and reduced in opacity to 52%. With eraser tool at low setting (15%) top overlay is erased over the face area, then cloning tool removes dark hair around her face.

A triangular shape from red hat source is added and duplicated for crown on girl's head. This will also be desaturated for final version and filtered with crosshatch, facet, an ripple.

Teardrop shapes are cloned from background shapes until head side and front are covered. Here I also tried adding color back into the face and crown, but will desaturate these later to get an 'icier' look.

Snowflake is drawn with brush tool in two designs on a new, clear layer. They are then duplicated and scaled to different sizes to be placed. Some very small ones are added to her eye since there is no shine in her eyes otherwise. Blues are brought up at this point using color/balance tool. Some contrast an brightness are added now as well.

This shows a snowflake 'in progress'. Drawing is with the brush tool on a new canvas, then duplications were made and some scale changes made. Filters (crosshatch, ripple, and facet) were added along with some hints of blue.
