A Work in Progress: Topping Up

step 1 of 15

Prep lady.
1-2. Cut out using layer mask
3. Create new skirt so she is not sitting.
4. Warp and smudge to get skirt to look the way I wanted.
5. Refined edge on hair so it was wispy.

Prep clouds for nebula.
1-2 Layer 2 images of clouds.
3-4 Add gradient and lighten

Prep Nebula from clouds (see step 2).
1. Turn Vertical
2,3. Add stars
4. Lighten (I turned of the stars for this)
5. Create and place Planet
6. Blend Planet with layer mask and add shading.

Prep Dome

1-2-3. Cut out sky from dome.
4-5. Warp to get shape I wanted.

Using a variety of blend modes I created the intense colour I wanted. See Step 6 as well.

More blend Modes. Using Blending Options I blend in the different layers.

Prep Light beams.

1. Warp part of dome.
2. Duplicate and warp some more.
3. Colour with levels and saturation. Use blend modes.
4. Add layers of colour to get glow. Mostly yellow and then it got blurred and Overlay, Hardlight and Multiple blend modes to varying degrees.

Shading and Face Finishing.

1. Added an overlay layer of the girl to get a bit more definition.

4. Added make-up and did the eyes. She needed to be a bit more alien and wild.
5. Finished but did some fixing of the edges as she had a yellow outline all the way around. Used clone and blur. Straightened a bit of the beams with Liquefy Tool.
5. Also added a High Pass layer in Overlay blend mode to sharpen.
