The most part I used is the the basal part of the metal globe. First I draw the sketch for the character (no reference), then I use the puppet warp to bend the metal string along with the sketch to make the character. The other parts of the metal globe were used to make the ears, shoulder, foot as I indicated in the figure

For the wires on the back side, I just use pen tool to draw

Now I manipulate the background. The bridge position is not satisfied with me so I raised it a bit upward

I drew the eyes with pen and brush tools, too. Notice that the strings on the left hand I'll remove near the last step

This is how the floating building I put on the image from the last step was made. The shape of the metal globe can be easily recognized, so I won't explain more in detail. In the last step, I used brush and pen tool to draw the robot, entrance and light

After removing the strings on the left hand, I made the metal hand for my character from the given source. About how I made the fire sparks you can see in the next step

To draw the spark, I made a layer with blending mode like what I described in the figure, and used the brush to paint the sparks.
In final step, I fined tune the image by increase the contrast of each parts of the character, correct the light, shadow... (took about a day to finish)
