I’m sorry if my English not good enough.

OK, for the first step I create a sphere in the top viewport then I convert it to editable poly.

In the left viewport, select some polygons in the top and bottom of the object and then delete them.

Selecting the top and bottom border then I create new polygon.

In the left viewport, I selecting some vertice (top and bottom) then drag alittle in Y-axis.

Still in the left viewport, selecting some edge then chamfer it

Selecting some polygons again, then extrude them. In here I use size of Extrusion high: -1 and type extrusion: Local Normal.

Selecting many edge, after that chamfer it alittle bit.

Applying turbo smooth modifier and set the iteration until define a nice smooth shape.

Create a new sphere with size smaller than before and put it to the midle of first sphere.

Applying turbo smooth to the 2nd sphere, and set the iteration again.

Now it is time to apply material. In here I used blinn standard material. For the first material is used to texturing first sphere. In the maps parameter rollout, I’m applying bump with bitmap bump material that I make with photoshop. For the second material is used to second sphere. In here I apply glow effect.
