First of all I isolated the chili from the source image.

This was my background picture. The idea was to place the chili over the red coloured petals of the plant.

Isolated the flower.

Used the chili a few times to cover the patals, using the warp tool to give a good fit over the petals, and the layer mask to erase unwanted parts.

All chili pieces in place.

Bursts of light added with brushes and coloured to echo the colour (and shape) of the bird of paradise plant.
