Cut away Vesuvius and the sky, erased all the sky from inside the leaves and around the fence . Duplicated it. Overlayed copy 1 in black.

Cut out the Kite, made it smaller desaturated it, duplicated the front face, and adjusted the curves and added a spotlight lighting effect.
Duplicated the original kite again.
Adjusted the curves on the original layer to darken the back.
Copy 1 = soft light
Copy 2 = soft light, high pass to enhance the kite detail
Added strings with a 3px round brush.
Merged all layers and duplicated it, changing the rotation and size for multiple kites
