step 1 of 7

Gather wood textures for my rolling hills.

step 2 of 7

Use warp tool to make several overlapping hills.

step 3 of 7

Cut out the bed and drop it in place also cut out a sliver to be used in making the man.

step 4 of 7

Use color range selection to extract the dead tree from the source image.

step 5 of 7

Cut out more pieces of wood and use free transform to bend them into body parts.

step 6 of 7

Bring in the lovely sunset and modify the colors to fit the feel of the dark night time image. Used levels adjust as well as burn tool.

step 7 of 7

Drop partially transparent layers of stars over the blue sky for progressive night time.
Use Burn tool to touch up the scene with shadows and Viola! Lovely image.
