In this first step I sketched out the shape of the leg in 2D

I then used revolves, extrudes and lofts the begin forming the 3D leg

This is the completed leg

To create the claws I followed the same steps as for the leg. Highlighted in blue you can see the 3 sketches that make up that portion of that loft.

The body was a simple shape

The mechanical bit in the middle was created as a separate assembly. This is the combination of many individual parts.

Final step was to assemble all the parts, apply materials, background and lighting etc.
