Add spot colour using a pencil brush(this has texture)
Then I begin to smudge altering from pencil brush to soft brush...

I begin to smudge, and add colour as I go to fill in gaps.

More smudging.. add more and more details as I go...

Everything smudged, now start to add colour with brush and smudge some more...with this technique, I add more details along the way, by adding bits and bits of colour.

Start to refine edges and add more detail...

Smudging with 60% and 70% strength....with soft brush.
This is the effect you get.
