first i duplicated the sea lion, and added an extra flipper to each on for an 'alien-like' look.
next i fixed the horizon line and removed some duplicate shells and also 'smudged' the mountains up on the left to make them pointed.
I also decided to give them pointy noses almost like rhinos...

I proceeded to make the sun from a simple shape layer and added inner and outer glow and then masked it for the marslions faces.
And finally I changed the hue/saturation to make it look more mars-like
