First, cut the mushroom head from the source and use the clonestamp to remove the leaves in front of it.

Duplicate and rotate the head and merge it with the previous one.

Construct an eye from scratch.

Made the background lighter

Now, it is starting to look like some fishy creature...

Some additional work on the leaves. Added an extra layer of blue on top of the background layers to create a better match.

Added detail to background/water. For this effect: render clouds + render difference clouds + negative. Apply result with mode 'screen'.

Created a bubble brush and added some bubbles.
