A Work in Progress: black victory

I started with a basic cylinder. I then added edge loops and adjusted their sizes to get the pawn basic shape. Finished the pawn with a sphere. Next I added subsurfacing to smooth the pawn out and adjusted the amount of creasing to finish.

I started with the pawn basic shape, then extruded the cylinder and adjusted edge loop sizes to get the king. The cross on his head is made from a box.

I started with the king basic shape then extruded to get the head of the bishop. Then I cut the slit into his head.

More extruding from the king basic shape to get the queen.

The rook uses the pawn basic shape.

The knight uses the pawn base for the bottom. The top was modelled by extruding cubes with adding and adjusting of edge loops.

I started the chair with a sphere then removed the lower vertices. I then extruded the lower edge loop to get the edge of the chair. The back of the chair was a subdivided cube that I added a curve modifier to.

I set up the scene with a chess board on a round table and the chess pieces set in a checkmate position.
