Using a pen tool customize a shape that will look like an Alien like this then fill with color.

Use the burn and dodge tool to manage light and shadows.

Adjust the color with hue saturation.

Color balance the eye.

Create a shadow using ellipse marquee tool > fill with black > blur.

Copy skin from the image source(frog)
step 8 of 10
Use soft light on that layer > burn the edges.

You can duplicate each layer to make an alien family. Just adjust the color using Hue saturation.
