step 1 of 9

isolate most of the elements, then begin assembling and scaling.

clip sleeve out for shape. repeated that for the other sleeve, the shirt front and back, then the boy's pants.

step 3 of 9

Make a clipping path so that the leaf takes the shape of the cutout part in the layer below.

step 4 of 9

warp leaf to basic shape.

step 5 of 9

cut the boy's right hand and rotated it. later decided to use the other hand instead, copied it and flipped horizontal, tilted and liquified to go around orb.

step 6 of 9

drew a ball with elipse tool, filled with white. duplicated the layer, used burn on edges for shading and radial fill with yellow.

step 7 of 9

cut tree stump from mushrooms, put on layer above, and adjusted color balance.

step 8 of 9

final touches added - painted a pale orange shape of 'smoke', blurred it, then lowered opacity; painted dark brown softly on a layer in front of the forest, lowered opacity; lightning bug and glitter brushes to finish.

step 9 of 9

oops! almost forgot to give him a proper ear - extracted, copied, warped.
