These are some of the layers I used, just to show you that I DID just use the 3 assigned colors.

Rough sketch. Sorry it's SO rough, I usually use 1px pencil tool to sketch.

Pen out the shape.

Overlay more layers in order to make it have this sort of transparent look.

Okay i took out the Sketchy lines because I already know the general shape.
Next, I used ellipse tool to make dots.

Add shadows to make it look like it's carved in.
I used black and low opacity, and clipping mask for each dot.
