A Work in Progress: Firebird

Make copy of owl layer.
Layer style:
Color overlay - orange.
Blend mode: Overlay.

Filte r- stylize - find edges.
Image ajustments - invert.

Image adjustments - desaturate, duplicate layer, delete layer style of copy.

Paint bucket:
Mode - overlay.
Opacity - 50%
Tolerance - 200%
First red, then orange and finally yellow

Image adjustments - levels:
Middle button to left, about 1,5.
Imageajustments - hue/saturation:
saturation - about + 30.

Filter - distord - diffuse glow:
Graininess: 0
Glow amount: 10
Clear: 10

Layer styles:
Outer glow:
Blend mode: color.
Opacity: 75%
Spread: 8%
Size: 8%
Colour: dark red

New layer:
Filter - rendering - clouds.

Image adjustments - hue/saturation:
Move hue until clouds get more red.
Layer styles:
Color overlay:
Blend mode: color
Opacity: 75%
Change color to orange.

Blend mode of clouds layer is overlay.

In the last steps I made a selection of the mouth (help my english:-)) and put the layer on top and blended it in.
I also used layer masks to bring back the eyes.
