i merged all my shapes together, but i made each piece by cutting out the shape i wanted and selecting areas then adjusting levels as needed....this added the highlights and shadows to my pieces....

oh, and i used the "Paper0007 (Texture: #6807)" from cgtextures.com to cut out my pieces with....this is the original paper texture i worked with

duplicated my origami flower and added light filter....layered and lowered opacity

copied flower again and added Luce light filter, blurred, and layered over background on lowered oipacity
step 6 of 6
duplicated copy of flower with light filter, rotated and enlarged, layered over two bottom layers on lowered opacity for more background effect...
