Use the pen tool to trace the outside of grandpas figure.

Change pen tool into selection. Command click the pen line if you have a mc, or right click if PC. A menu will pop up then select
"make selection."

For the final touch. Use the Hue/Saturation. Ctrl+ U for PC, Command + U for Apple. Or go to the drop down menu select image>adjustments>Hue/Saturation. Then mess around with the hue, the saturation, and contrast to get the color you wont. In this case Papa Smurf Blue. Then for an extended beard I made a selection of the beard duplicated and just erases with a very opaic and a low flow soft brush.
