Frog fountain photo from a home tour I took. Frog portion is very small, therefore needed a lot of enhancement with brush tools.

step 2 of 12

This eyelash brush I designed myself since all those I tried to use from resources would not load into my program. They say necessity is the mother of invention. Guess we all get lazy, and need to do more by ourselves anyway.

Heart brushes I also designed myself.

step 4 of 12

This is my photo I used for the lily pad portion of background for my bachelor. The large leaf had water in it, so made a perfect spot for the bachelor's 'hot tub'.

Hat brushes, thanks to faeth-design at deviantart.com.

step 6 of 12

Here the lilies and pads are duplicated from original and moved onto source background. Areas are trimmed out with eraser brush, and 'see-through' areas are erased to show the background reeds, giving more dimension to the piece.

Now the frogs are chopped from the photo source, and moved into work area. Using edit/transform/distort and perspective tool, the chop is fit into the lily pad and shadows blended.

Here more detailing is added to the frogs. The photo had a lot to be desired and had lost a lot of detail, and was also not as good a resolution as desired. Use of brush and airbrush tools had to bring back detail needed, especially to make the frog in 'his' lap recognizable. Hat is added with the hat brush and is ready to finish.

step 9 of 12

Hat is green now using color and balance tool, and a black band has been added using the paintbrush tool.

step 10 of 12

Hat has been finished using burn and dodge tools to give it more shape, and the feather has been drawn in using the brush tool in the dissolve mode, then edges are darkened and lightened with the dodge and burn tools.

step 11 of 12

Here I decided to add some heart 'throbs', so on a new canvas I created a heart shape with the paint brush tool. Then I added one and duplicated it 4 times. The hearts were flipped and scaled to give them a perspective as they 'float' away. Colors were changed using the paint bucket tool.

Finally, background flowers are changed since original flowers were at lower resolution. Brightness on background flowers was turned lower to keep them more in the background. A different flower is chopped and added over original flower in girl frog's 'hand', and some of the rocks have been removed.
