step 1 of 6

I used a tutorial to learn to create a flame from a word or a font :- http://www.elftown.com/_Realistic Flames in Photoshop

The font I used was called Celtic.

Creation of Eternal Flame: Step 1

step 2 of 6

This is how I played with the Liquefy warp tools.

Creation of Eternal Flame: Step 2

step 3 of 6

Read the tutorial - I followed the instructions except that I blurred the red layer much more than the yellow and arrived at this.

Creation of Eternal Flame: Step 3

step 4 of 6

The leaves I duplicated and greyscaled one. Then used a gradient map on that one you can see the colours chosen were from itself. I just reversed the shadow/colour/highlights to make the leaf appear to be seen from the underside and curved towards the viewer. The leaf was flipped horizontally & the stalk removed with a mask

Creation of Eternal Flame: Step 4

step 5 of 6

I played with a frame - and overlays discovering that the blue overlay property as "saturation" gave a glowing gold colour to the brown leaf

Creation of Eternal Flame: Step 5

step 6 of 6

The final decision involved making a screen-shot of Photoshop transparency background and overlaying that with x 2 layers their property set to "Multiply" and simplifying the frame to a single line.
