step 1 of 24
cut out one of the shoes using the lasso tool and copy/paste. warped the shoe into the shape that i wanted.

used the burn tool in varying opacities to add some shadows and details to the "face". created the eyes simply by drawing their shape in black, then using a soft white brush on another layer to add a glare to give them some depth. then i did the nostrils with a soft black brush

made a new selection for the next part.

copy/pasted, then free transformed my selection. then i used warp to make it into the shape i wanted. burn for shadows, and dodge for highlights. liquify for the "adams apple".

copied the selection 3 times, then free transform to place...used hue/sat, and made them b&w.

use the same selection to make the chest plate, use warp and free transform to put it in place.

use hue/sat, and turn the saturation all the way down. then copy the layer several times, making each one bigger. used warp on a few to bend them the right way.

free transform the first arm into postion, then warp, and burn/dodge for shadows and highlights to give it depth.

added wristbands using the paintbrush with 95% hardness and grey, then wrote on it...hehe..

made the hand simply by copy and pasting the arm several times, then free transforming the layers down to size.

copied the layers for the arm and moved them. made sure the new arm was behind everything else in the layers palette.

sketched the alien "puppy"

used the same selection as i did for the alien's head for the monster puppy...warp and liquify.

added teeth. this was done using the paint brush tool on a light gray color, then dodge/burn. i duplicated the tooth over and over to fill the mouth.

made the hands using a selection of the window sill. duplicated the finger 3 times to make the hand. then used dodge, burn for depth and shadowing, and used the same technique as for the teeth for the claws.

added the other hand...decided against using the tonque, so im not including that in the sbs... just duplicated the layers of the other hand, and free transformed until it looked good... then, i added the wrist by duplicating one of the fingers and scaling it up. i put it on a layer below the rest of the hands, and used a soft eraser on the edges to blend it all together.

added the top arm in, and dodge and burn to give it depth.

duplicated all the layers of teeth, then free transformed them. i put them on layers behind the front teeth. i then added a layer in between the two sets of teeth, which i added black on with a soft black brush.

added fog and messed with the background ...i also added some more shadowing with a b&w gradient with the layer set on overlay at a low opacity. the fog was made with a big soft brush set on dissolve on 15% opacity. then guassian blurred .

changed the hue/sat on the alien to make him green.
