A Work in Progress: Hands of God and Adam

Cut out the hands:
1) Edit in quick mask mode to make a rough cut-out first.
2) Then, use pen tool to make a more detailed cut-out.

Position the hands just like in the Michelangelo's painting.

Make another copy of the left hand onto another layer. Position it to make the hand bend.

Use eraser tool to erase unnecessary part. Always reduce the hardness of the eraser (I use 30%) to perfectly blend the images.

Make 3 layers of the right hand index finger. Using pen tool is always the right choice. This will be for the next step.

Then bled those layers onto the right hand. Using eraser tool for blending is easier for me cause you can adjust manually when dealing with small layers.

Make a new black background layer.

Then add another background layer on top of existing background layer. The color used is the color of the gloves itself.

Then:
Layer > Add Layer Mask > Reveal All or Hide All (either way).
Color the background with radial gradient (gradient tool).

Use smudge tool to add some interesting effect on the background. Use 30% hardness is adequate.

Filter > Render > Lens Flare...
Use 105mm Prime with 50% brightness.
