step 1 of 10

I traced out the design in the woodwork of the source image, made a star liek pattern from the pieces, then duplicated the pattern and changed it to various matching shades....adjusting opacity levels...

Creation of mind's eye: Step 1

step 2 of 10

I copied the first pattern and added a little bit of a wave to it, then lowered the opacity...

Creation of mind's eye: Step 2

step 3 of 10

I copied the pattern again, and blurred it with a radial blur, then layered the three paterns on top of each other over a black background.

the black background (should have been first step, sorry)

I copied the female again, added gaussian blur, and layered over both....

Creation of mind's eye: Step 7

step 8 of 10

I saved a copy of the original star design from the wood patterm reduced the size, filled with 50% gray, and added an outer glow and 90 degree drop shadow (placed over forehead)

Creation of mind's eye: Step 8

I used the blue part of the woman's shawl to cut out some points which i sheared, adjusted opacity, and added and outer/inner glow and inner shadow to.

Creation of mind's eye: Step 9

step 10 of 10

i added another layer on top, filled with black, and created a lens flare, then i rotated the layer on a slight angle, dragged the flare down to her eye, and layered on "difference".
