I used pieces of this background to make hat.
I closed cut hat shape and added some shade to give it a bit of shape.

I used this image to make the face. Closed cut shape and added some shade by duplicating layer, making a mask and erasing what I didn't need then used the opacity for shade.

I used this background to create shoulders and neck shade. Played with levels to get it the way I wanted.

I merged all the elements together and played with contrast, color and shading with brush tool at 50% black.
I used on of the sources for my background and blurred it and added a darker boarder.
