Cut out pieces of our friends dome to make sections of the helmet.
Used burn & dodge to add edges to the sections, as well as some hue & saturation, and filter layers to adjust the colors.

Used a small clump of eyebrow hair to make the thread for the stitches and duplicated and moved it around many, many times.

Added the far ear flap and lined the inside using some of the rag behind our friends right shoulder. I used the same rag to make the straps (which I didn't like and later replaced with straps made from the canvas texture provided in my sources)

The base that the helmet is setting on is a quick photo I took of my desk lamp.

Added the Heisman trophy to the background and used Gaussian Blur to blur the heck out of it.
After I changed the straps (mentioned in previous step) I added shadows and reflections of the trophy and straps to the lamp base.
