These are my basic gumballs used in creating my clown. I tried to find the best ones from the source image to fit my needs. I wasn't too bothered about their color as I was going to color them as I wanted later on.

Started to recreate the clown trying to keep track of initial image. Basic methods used: warping, resizing, flipping, masking, coloring along the way.

Added low opacity gumballs over the hair and gumballs on the bow tie.

Started to recreate an imaginary backround.
I have reshaped a round blue gumball into a square one, copy/pasted it more times and changed color to light and dark blue for pattern purposes.

Finished the backround and added shadows/brightness and gausian blur.

Added shadows to the clown and the lines around eyes and mouth for better definition.

Added overall gaussian blur, blending mode soft light and also some lights coming from right.

Added high pass filter for high definition. Flattened image, duplicated layer, desaturated it and changed blending mode to overlay to pop up shadows/brightness even more. Lowered opacity down to 50%.
